Graves Votes to Protect Small Businesses and Family Farmers from Higher Taxes
Washington, D.C. ,
Dec 16, 2010 -
House Small Business Committee Ranking Member Sam Graves (R-MO) tonight voted in favor of legislation to extend critical tax provisions for small businesses and family farmers. The Senate version of H.R. 4853 passed the House by a vote of 277 to 148.
“I am pleased that Congress and the Administration were ultimately able to work in a bipartisan manner to protect the American people from more devastating tax increases. While I would have preferred a permanent extension for all taxpayers, this bill will help stabilize our economy and shows that Washington is finally ready to stop working against our nation’s greatest job creators: small businesses. By assuring these entrepreneurs that these tax provisions won’t expire in the next two years and making key changes to the Estate Tax, we are taking a first step toward providing the certainty they need to begin hiring new employees and expanding their businesses.”
