Chairman Chabot Statement on President Trump’s WOTUS Executive Action
WASHINGTON - House Small Business Committee Chairman Steve Chabot (R-Ohio) made the following statement on President Donald J. Trump’s executive action reviewing the Obama administration’s Waters of the United States (WOTUS) rule:
“Over the past several years, our Committee has been laser-focused on cutting unnecessary government red tape that burdens America’s small businesses. Through this effort, we have found that few rules have been as far-reaching and devastating to small businesses as the Obama Administration EPA’s WOTUS rule. Small businesses and small family farms continue to be clobbered by this outrageous rule and President Trump’s action is the first step in providing them with some relief. Our Committee looks forward to working with President Trump and EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt to undo the damage Obama-era regulations like WOTUS have done to our small businesses.”
Since it was first proposed, the House Small Business Committee has repeatedly warned the Obama administration about the negative consequences of the WOTUS rule for small businesses through numerous hearings and multiple letters.
