ICYMI: Chairman Graves Blasts The Obama Administration Delay of Small Business Health Options Program (SHOPs) on Fox and Friends

WASHINGTON, D.C.—This morning, House Small Business Committee Chairman Sam Graves (R-MO) appeared on Fox News to discuss the Obama Administration's recent proposal to delay the Small Business Health Options Program (SHOPs), which was touted as a key catalyst to spur competition and help reduce health care costs for small businesses. Many of the major provisions of the health care law are set to take effect in 2013 and 2014, including the SHOPS provision, but evidently the Obama Administration is having a hard time meeting their deadlines. While the health care law's taxes, regulations, and costs are being implemented, the promises to small businesses of more options, more competition, and lower premiums are nowhere in sight.

Chairman Graves has opposed the law since its consideration and final passage three years ago, and has voted multiple times to repeal it. The Committee requested that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services provide answers to several questions about the operation of the transitional policy by April 22, 2013.
