Three of Top Five States For Business To Testify on Successful State Strategies WEDNESDAY

The House Small Business Committee will hold a hearing titled Beyond the Beltway: Successful State Strategies for Small Business Growth tomorrow, featuring CNBC's three of the top five states for business, announced today

1) South Dakota
2) Texas
3) North Dakota
4) Nebraska
5) Virginia and Utah *tie*


The purpose of the hearing is to receive testimony from state officials on the ways they are enticing and keeping business in their states. Among the issues that will be discussed are: smart regulation, lower tax regimes, low cost of business formation, and access to capital.
                                                                                                               
Testifying at the hearing will be Jim Cheng, Secretary, Department of Commerce and Trade, State of Virginia. Cheng is testifying in place of Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell, who is unable to appear due to a scheduling conflict. The other witnesses include Pat Costello, Commissioner, South Dakota Office of Economic Development, Office of Governor Dennis Daugaard; Nick Jordan, Secretary, Department of Revenue, State of Kansas, Governor Sam Brownback; and Aaron Demerson, Executive Director, Texas Office of Economic Development and Tourism, Office of Governor Rick Perry.
