Washington, September 16, 2019
WASHINGTON – During the recent district work period, Republican Members of the House Committee on Small Business met with numerous local small business owners, who told them about the need for workforce development, the success of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, and how they are reinvesting in their company and employees. Here are some highlights:
Rep. Amata Radewagen (R-AS) visited one of American Samoa's newest small businesses, The Flying Fox Brewery. She is pictured here with her daughter Erika Leatavalavala and entrepreneur brewery owner Nate Ilaoa. This family-owned independent business is named for the legendary Samoan flying fox, among the world’s larger flying mammals, and the business is the only one of its kind in American Samoa.

Rep. Troy Balderson (R-OH) learned more about how the owners of Baker’s Collision Repair are reinvesting in their company and workers.
Rep. Kevin Hern (R-OK) hosted a small business roundtable at M & M Lumber in Tulsa. He also participated in the NFIB Small Business Challenge, learning how to frame a door and drive a forklift.
Rep. Jim Hagedorn (R-MN) visited Collider, a coworking space in Rochester where entrepreneurs, freelancers, and remote workers can rent offices and conference rooms. He thanked the small business owners for their contributions to the economy.
Rep. Pete Stauber (R-MN) hosted a roundtable with the Brainerd Chamber of Commerce to hear from manufacturers and workers about the need for a strong trade agreement.
