WASHINGTON – House Committee on Small Business Ranking Member Steve Chabot (R-OH) released the following statement after participating in a Small Business Administration roundtable on Opportunity Zones yesterday: “Included in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, Opportunity Zones provide tremendous potential for small businesses to revitalize Main Streets across America. Small businesses have a great capacity for promoting economic and social growth. Ohio has been a great model of Opportunity Zone implementation. I thank the roundtable participants and Regional Administrator Scott for a productive conversation and will continue to monitor the program going forward.” The event took place at the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber in Ranking Member Chabot’s district and included representatives from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Internal Revenue Service, multiple chambers of commerce, Federal Reserve of Cleveland, HCDC, City of Cincinnati, and several small business owners. During the discussion, Ranking Member Chabot emphasized the need for small businesses to engage in and benefit from Opportunity Zones and asked stakeholders about their experiences with the program. |
