SMALL BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT

JULY 2022

BLUES HOG BBQ & GATEWAY DRUMS AND MARBLE RIDGE FARMS

Washington, Missouri

Small businesses make up 99.9 percent of businesses across the United States, accounting for nearly 50 percent of all American employees. The small business community is comprised of our nation's hardest-working individuals. Their tireless dedication to running a small business does not go unnoticed.

Born and raised on a hog farm in New Haven, Missouri, Tim Scheer and his wife, Terri, now raise their three daughters just up the road from the family farm. Tim began cooking in BBQ competitions at the age of 26 and it didn't take long before he began cranking out wins under the team name, Shake ‘N Bake BBQ

In 2015, Bill Arnold, the creator of Blues Hog BBQ Sauce, sold the brand and original five recipes to fellow champion postmaster, Tim Scheer.  With great vision of where the brand could go and a promise to build upon the legacy of Blues Hog, Tim went to work, and continues to work, on expanding the Blues Hog product line and cultivating a strong fanbase.

In 2014, Tim developed and patented the Gateway Drum Smoker, revolutionizing BBQ by cooking "Hot 'n Fast."  And in 2021, Tim returned to his farming roots, establishing Marble Ridge Farms, a wagyu cattle and mangalitsa pig farm, selling the highest quality meats on the market.

“Higher taxes on a small business burden us financially and operationally. Quite bluntly, Higher taxes equals lower profits. Profits are how small business function. Lower profits hurts employee wages, investment back into the company, & expansion. Higher taxes inhibit growth in every facet of business. When it comes to taxes & profits it is basic Economics 101,” said Tim Scheer, Owner.
