WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Roger Williams (R-TX), Chairman of the House Committee on Small Business, led a full Committee markup where all seven bills considered were passed by the Committee. Chairman Williams issued the following statement after today’s markup.

“It is our job, as the House Committee on Small Business, to be the voice of Main Street America here in Washington,” said Chairman Williams. “The previous Administration’s unprecedented electioneering efforts, loans to illegal immigrants, and burdensome regulations harmed small businesses.  This Committee, alongside President Trump and Administrator Loeffler, is restoring accountability and trust in the SBA, ensuring the agency works for small businesses and returns to its core mission of serving Main Street America.”

H.R. 2968: “Business Over Ballots Act” – introduced by Rep. Roger Williams (R-TX).

• This bill returns the SBA to its core mission of serving Main Street and prevents the SBA from being weaponized for political purposes by prohibiting the SBA from taking any action that facilitates voter registration access.

H.R. 2027: “Returning SBA to Main Street Act” – introduced by Rep. Mark Alford (R-MO).

• This bill decentralizes the SBA by relocating 30 percent of its Washington, D.C. headquarters staff to locations across the country.

H.R. 2966: “American Entrepreneurs First Act” – introduced by Rep. Beth Van Duyne (R-TX).

• This bill codifies recent SBA policies to ensure that taxpayer dollars are only funding legal, eligible American small businesses by requiring citizenship verification for SBA assistance applications.

H.R. 2931: “Save SBA from Sanctuary Cities Act” – introduced by Rep. Brad Finstad (R-MN).

• This bill requires the SBA to remove SBA offices out of sanctuary city jurisdiction and complements action taken by SBA Administrator Loeffler.

H.R. 2987: “Capping Excessive Awarding of SBLC Entrants (CEASE) Act” – introduced by Rep. Rob Bresnahan (R-PA).

• This bill restores proper oversight capabilities to the SBA by limiting the number of authorized SBLC licenses to 16 after the Biden-Harris Administration removed the limit on the number of SBLCs.

H.R. 2965: “Small Business Regulatory Reduction Act of 2025” – introduced by Rep. Beth Van Duyne (R-TX).

• This bill requires the SBA to report annually on the regulatory costs on small businesses, aiming to expose and limit the burden of excessive red tape and compliance obstacles harming Main Street America.

H.R. 1163: “Prove It Act of 2025” – introduced by Rep. Brad Finstad (R-MN).
