House Committee on Small Business Commends Passage of Two Small Business Bills on the House Floor

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, two bills from the House Committee on Small Business passed favorably out of the House. This legislation will take meaningful steps to cut costly red tape, strengthen oversight, and ensure small businesses can grow without being weighed down by burdensome regulations.

Quote Attributable to Congressman Roger Williams (R-TX), Chairman of the House Committee on Small Business:

“Washington should never stand in the way of America’s job creators,” said Chairman Williams. “These bills push back on excessive regulations that crushed small businesses during the previous Administration. Under the leadership of President Trump and Administrator Loeffler, we are once again giving small businesses the resources they need to set the pace of America’s economic growth.”

Quote Attributable to Congressman Mike Johnson (R-LA), Speaker of the House of Representatives:

“America’s small businesses owners are forced to navigate outdated, duplicative, and costly federal regulations and unnecessary delays that hold them back. Today, House Republicans passed two commonsense bills to elevate and empower their voices and get Washington bureaucracy out of their way of growth and success,” Speaker Johnson said. "Small businesses are the backbone of America’s economy, and they deserve a direct line to report harmful red tape – and a federal government that adapts and finds a way to fix it. President Trump and Congressional Republicans are restoring accountability and advancing a deregulatory agenda that delivers real positive relief to Main Street."

H.R. 4305: "Destroying Unnecessary, Misaligned, and Prohibitive (DUMP) Red Tape Act of 2025" – introduced by Rep. Tony Wied (R-WI).

·         The bill codifies the efforts of President Trump and the SBA Office of Advocacy to establish a “Red Tape Hotline” where small businesses can report excessive regulatory burdens.
