The House Committee on Small Business Reports Three Bills Favorably to the House

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Roger Williams (TX-25), Chairman of the House Committee on Small Business, led a full Committee markup where the Committee passed all three bills considered. Chairman Williams issued the following statement after today’s markup.

“Under President Trump’s leadership, the House Committee on Small Business is restoring accountability and transparency to the SBA,” said Chairman Williams. “The three bills passed out of the Committee today show our commitment to crack down on the waste, fraud, and abuse nationwide. As Chairman, I am proud of our efforts to protect small businesses, root out fraudulent behavior, and safeguard taxpayer dollars.”

H.R. 7401: “Small Business Lending Fraud Prevention Act” — introduced by Rep. Meuser (R-PA).

·         The bill strengthens the Small Business Administration’s (SBA) conflict of interest rules by requiring SBA employees to certify that they do not have a conflict of interest before handling an SBA loan application.

·         Adopted and Reported Favorably to the House: 24 Yea, 0 Nay.

H.R. 7396: “Native American Entrepreneurial Opportunity Act” — introduced by Rep. Davids (D-KS).

·         The bill codifies the SBA Office of Native American Affairs and creates accountability by requiring the office to submit annual Congressional reports.

·         Adopted and Reported Favorably to the House: 24 Yea, 0 Nay.

H.R. 7412: “Put America on Commission Act of 2026” — introduced by Rep. Williams (R-TX).

·         The bill establishes an Office of Whistleblower Awards within the SBA to incentivize the public to report credible information on pandemic-era loan fraud in exchange for monetary awards.
