House Committee on Small Business, Republicans
Straight Talk: Health Care Repeal Legislation Passes House
Weekly Update from Sam

Friends:

We took a great step toward fulfilling one of our promises to the American people this week when the House approved legislation to repeal the job-destroying health care law.  I am pleased to report that the repeal bill, H.R. 2, passed with bipartisan support in a vote of 245 to 189.

The health care law is brimming with poorly-conceived, wildly expensive and intrusive provisions that will slow job creation, increase debt, and make it tougher for families and small business owners to make ends meet. It is time for us to move away from a law that penalizes our nation’s entrepreneurs and place a renewed focus on enacting targeted, common sense reforms.

The House will now move forward on crafting legislation that takes an incremental approach to addressing individual problems within our health care system.  In the coming weeks, members of the House Small Business Committee will have opportunities to help reexamine health care in America and offer proactive solutions that will allow us to reach our shared goal of expanding access and reducing costs without sacrificing future economic growth.
